Continued my Yasujirô Ozu education with these three wonderful films, unofficially known as the ‘Noriko Trilogy’ - named after the character played in each film by Setsuku Hara. Ozu has a brilliant minimalistic style of filmmaking, leaving much room for character development and interaction. There is little camera movement, thoroughly uncomplicated plots, and simplistic edits. While the films are all somewhat slow moving, they are utterly touching and beautiful to watch.
